X Factor have confirmed the theme contestants will be tackling this weekend will be The Beatles' hits - just as their classics go on sale on iTunes for the first time! The nine remaining hopefuls will take to the stage and are set to sing Fab Four classics including Let It Be, Yesterday, Hey Jude and All You Need Is Love. This decision for a Beatles theme has led to speculation that the 'X Factor effect' will lead to the Liverpudlian foursome soaring the charts once again. The X Factor contestants' songs will all be available to download after the show so will be going into battle with the original versions. At the moment, the Beatles have three of their albums in the top 10 on the iTunes chart - The Blue Album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and The Red Album. It has been reported that Liverpudlian signer Rebecca Ferguson will tackle Beatles classic Yesterday. Controversial Katie Waissel is down to perform Help! while Paije will sing Let It Be, Matt Cardle will take to the stage with Come Together and Mary Byrne will try her hand at Something. Boyband One Direction are earmarked to sing All You Need Is Love, Wagner will try his luck with a medley of Get Back/Hippy Hippy Shake/Hey Jude and Cher Lloyd will sing Imagine – but whether she'll rap mid-way through is another question altogether. The Fab Four are about to see some of their biggest hits murdered on live television by the cast of the X Factor!!Cher Lloyd, Katie Waissel, Matt Cardle, One Direction and company will be taking on John, Paul, George and Ringo on the famous Fountain Studios stage in Wembley to prove that they can sing some of the best songs ever written to a passable (or possibly below) standard. Lets hope Harry Styles from One Direction at least gets briefed to say something funny along the lines of, 'I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we've passed the audition … sadly, they won't. Of course, the live versions will as always be available for download via iTunes, but as is usually the case with these affairs, the original tracks are sure to get a big boost too. At present The Beatles are already making significant inroads into the UK charts. Hey Jude is at 25 in the iTunes chart, with Twist and Shout and Let it Be also rising fast in the Top 40. In the iTunes rock chart The Beatles are currently occupying 33 of the top 40 positions, only currently held off number one by Pink. The top 10 albums are also dominated by The Beatles, with seven of the top ten titles from the Fab Four's back catalogue. download The Beatles via iTunes

Matt Cardle – Come Together
Olly Murs thought: It was great to see Matty moving. He’s a star. I’m not sure about his vest top though – but I got my top off last year. Not his best performance but still.
You thought: “Ooooh,” wrote Rashed. “This is good. But he can do much better than this. I think he’s better with a slower ballad.”

Cher Lloyd - Imagine
Olly Murs thought: That was really good! Hard to do John Lennon but I think she did really well. I totally agreed with Dannii when she said she was brilliant. And Dermot was also right to stick up for her and say she was versatile.
You thought: “Is she going to rap ‘Baby Got Back’ in the middle of it?” wrote Becky Harris. “Pretty terrible.” There was some disagreement though. “Everyone is having a go at her – but I think she’s the most interesting contestant,” wrote Dan Cole.

One Direction – All You Need Is Love
Olly Murs thought: I wasn’t sure at the start of the song. But they’d won me over by the end. They’re definitely in the final.
You thought: “Much better than I thought they’d be,” said Raj Padam. “Really, the perfect song for them to do.”
Yahoo! users rating: 4/5
Rebecca Ferguson – Yesterday
Olly Murs thought: Rebecca is consistent. She looks stunning. I thought this was very good. And she is so sweet. It wasn’t her best performance of the series but she oozes class.
You thought: “The problem is that she doesn’t move,” said Beads. “She just does the same thing every week. Well – but it’s not quite enough.”
Yahoo! users rating: 3/5
Mary Byrne – Something
Olly Murs thought: Such a great vocal. Boy, can she sing. I love Mary. I love her whole story.
Yahoo! users thought: “A big improvement on her recent form,” wrote Helen. “She seemed a lot more confident than she had.”
Yahoo! users rating: 4/5
Paije Richardson – Let It Be
Olly Murs thought: He’s so likeable and this is a great song choice for him. But I do think he went a bit Aiden at the end and his voice was all over the place.
You thought: “This is great. A simple song, sung with real soul,” wrote Rich. “I’d forgotten he was on before he came on but he won me over with that song.”
Yahoo! users rating: 5/5
Wagner – Get Back, Hippy, Hippy Shake, Hey Jude
Olly Murs thought: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! (It was very nice what he said about Cheryl, well played)
You thought: “I’m voting for him now,” wrote Hezia. “Cheryl was totally unprofessional bringing that up.” “That was bullying,” agreed Bibi. “She really shouldn’t have said that.”
Yahoo! users rating: 1/5
Katie Waissel – Help
Olly Murs thought: I loved that. I agree with Cheryl. This was my performance of the night. I really like her.
You thought: “I hate her,” wrote everyone. Except Stephanie Terry, who stuck up for her. “I think you’re all too harsh. She doesn’t look silly or pathetic. I don’t like her much but shes a fighter and the fact is she's still here.”

Yoko Ono praises X Factor contestants on Beatles night Yoko Ono has spoken out in support of this year's X Factor contestants following their tribute to The Beatles. Hopefuls on the ITV reality pop show last night (November 20) performed songs by the Fab Four following the historic digital release of the band's catalogue on iTunes. And John Lennon's widow took to Twitter to support two of the frontrunners in the competition's girls category. Show favourite Cher Lloyd performed 'Imagine' while the embattled Katie Waissel tackled 'Help'. Following the show, Ono tweeted: "Cher & Katie - I watched you sing Imagine and Help! on #XFactor and thought you were fantastic! A big hug to both of you, love yoko." (sic) This was the first time The X Factor has staged a Beatles night, although Paul McCartney performed at the final of last year's competition. www.nme.com/news/the-beatles/53931
