Details regarding this years International Beatle Week have just been released. This annual event is staged in Liverpool and this year takes place during the last week of August. Typically attracting 300,000 fans from over 40 different countries, highlights of this years festival will include BILLY J KRAMER’S first UK performance for over 7 years, DENNY LAINE performing Wings and Moody Blues classics, Ron Nasty and Barry Wom from THE RUTLES (AKA Neil Innes and John Halsey) and gigs by Badfinger’s JOEY MOLLAND.
The event will also celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Pete Best joining the Beatles with a garden party at the legendary Casbah Club. The festival will host a “LOVE, PEACE & UNDERSTANDING” concert at the magnificent Liverpool Anglican Cathedral which will not only raise funds for the Cathedral, but will demonstrate via the medium of the Beatles music and solo repertoire, that as Paul & Ringo observed, their music had three broad messages, Love, Peace & Understanding. The sheer scale of this event will make it the most ambitious project ever staged at Beatle Week.
Fans will also be able to take a Magical Mystery Tour of Beatle sights and of course to round off the weekend, the city of Liverpool comes to a standstill for the MATHEW STREET FESTIVAL, which is a free event with stages in the city centre streets.
There are also shows at the Philharmonic Hall with world class performances by THE BOOTLEG BEATLES and Liverpool ’s very own MARK McGANN, portraying John Lennon in “In My Life”. And of course let us not forget over 400 performances in a week at the legendary Cavern Club where it all began. Add in a cornucopia of events, including art exhibitions, flea market, record fairs, film festival, Beatles convention and music from over 20 countries, it is an event not to be missed.
