I don't understand the Beatles music on these lame commercials..who has the rights to all these songs now...and why hasn't Paul bought them? I really don't understand the situation with this..I do remember some time ago the nonsense with Michael Jackson jerking Paul around and buying the rights and then selling it...can someone enlighten me? I just feel the Beatles especially Paul should now have them..it's so sad...this music is so very special. They are rightfully his and Yoko's?

I totally agree with you. This is very wrong and, Paul and Yoko should buy them back!
Here are some facts about the 'Beatles Commercials' and what the Beatles thought of them.
Beatles Commercials
"The Beatles position is that they don't sing jingles to peddle sneakers, beer, pantyhose or anything else. Their position is that they wrote and recorded these songs as artists and not as pitchmen for any product." Apple's attorney's statement July 18, 1987
"If it's allowed to happen, every Beatles song ever recorded is going to be advertising women's underwear and sausages. We've got to put a stop to it in order to set a precedent. Otherwise it's going to be a free-for-all. It's one thing you're dead, but we're still around! They don't have any respect for the fact that we wrote and recorded those songs, and it was our lives." George Harrison November 1987
"But the most difficult question is whether you should use songs for commercials. I haven't made up my mind. Generally, I don't like it, particularly with the Beatles stuff. When twenty years have passed maybe we'll move into the realm where it's okay to do it." Paul McCartney February 1988
From AdTunes
The Beatles helped start a Revolution (with the help of a famous commercial by Nike) of using popular music in television commercials. Regardless of how you feel about that ad music trend, it is a vital part of marketing in the ever changing world of "new media". Even Paul McCartney feels differently about popular music in advertising these days.
It looks like the music of The Beatles are being called into service once again (with the help of Beatles music rights owners Sony and Michael Jackson) in new Chase credit card commercials featuring a sound-alike cover version of The Beatles classic "All You Need Is Love". It doesn't take much to question the use of this so-called peace hippie anthem for an ad showing the need for a credit card to a tune preaching the virtues of love. But, as most of us know, marketing sometimes has no use for irony.

Thank you, Dr. Winston..it is as simple as All Lennon/McCartney songs I do believe should be owned by Paul, Julian, Sean and Yoko, all George by Dhani and Olivia and Ringo by Ringo..once it is in their hands if they choose to do commercials with them or whatever that is their business. It was their creations and they should be GIVEN to them just out of respect and common sense. During John's lifetime did he and Paul ever make any attempts to get the rights? I can't comprehend Paul and Yoko especially letting them go..unless there is more to the story that we don't know about?
