Fans of RINGO STARR have launched an internet campaign calling for the former BEATLES drummer to receive a knighthood.
An e-petition containing 1,500 names has been sent to the 10 Downing Street website of British Prime Minister TONY BLAIR, who recommends recipients of the prestigious honour to British monarch QUEEN ELIZABETH II.
Fans are shocked Starr is yet to receive the royal accolade, because his former BEATLES bandmate SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY was knighted in 1996 and Blair's wife CHERIE has admitted to being a fan of the band.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "Downing Street has been surprised by the strong feeling this issue has aroused since Ringo was left off the New Year's Honours list (07). It's proving one of the most popular petitions on the website. "Considering Cherie is such a well-known Beatles fan, campaigners are hoping Tony will finally give it his approval."

I totally agree with the campaign although it would be great if paul would have the oppurtunity.

Although can people who have passed away recieve a khnight hood as personally i feel hat john and george deserve a knighthood.

It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out - it doesn't matter much to me...
