I'm not a real huge Yoko fan, so I don't think I'll buy it, but I've always been curious about this book...has anyone here read her book "Grapefruit" and what did you think of it?

I have never read it. I must, soon. I do know John got the inspiration for 'Imagine' from the book. The first line of "Imagine" - "Imagine there's no heaven", is a direct descendant of the interactive pieces in Ono's 1964 book, Grapefruit ("Imagine letting a goldfish swim across the sky") The most famous publication by Yoko Ono: it's a book of her instruction pieces. Originally published in 1964 in Tokyo, Japan as a limited edition of 500 copies. From 1970 onwards it has been published in several countries and languages.
Yoko Ono: "Burn this book after you have read it." John Lennon: "This is the greatest book I have ever burned."
Review from Q, (August 1996): "Early performance pieces collected into book form. Violent and whimsical, pandemonium of imaginative brilliance to shame all performance artists." Have some grapefruit!

Unless you are a Yoko Ono admirer, this book will be of little interest to you.

Sounds interesting, Dr. Winston...I might read it. NYC, I'm not a Yoko admirer, but I'm not a Yoko hater either--just neutral, I suppose! I like to read, though, so I may flip through it in the library the next time I go.
